While the speeches, song and siva at the world's largest Pacific cultural festival have fallen silent for another year, the celebration was very nearly silenced permanently.
Polyfest was in financial ruin following last year's cancellation due to Covid-19 and the year before that they had to cancel the lucrative Saturday show because of the Christchurch terror attacks.
