India travel suspension sad but needed - Community leader

From Morning Report, 7:23 am on 9 April 2021

A leader of the Indian community says suspending entry to New Zealanders arriving from India is sad but necessary and - he hopes - short-term.

The government announced yesterday that from Sunday until 28 April, no one will be able to enter this country if they've been in India over the previous 14 days.

That's hit some in the Indian community here hard, but the new president of the Auckland Indian Association, Dhansukh Lal, is matter of fact.

Lal spoke to Susie Ferguson.
