NZ-German collaboration hoping to go to space

An aerospace joint-venture is being touted as the launchpad for sending New Zealand-Germany combined missions into space.

Twelve New Zealand organisations are being funded by the government to collaborate with the renowned German Aerospace Centre.

They'll conduct feasibility studies into technologies such as rocket propulsion, space communication and remote sensing technologies.

Startup space company Argo Navis Aerospace has been developing a magnet propulsion system.

Its chief executive Avinash Rao spoke to Corin Dann.
