From Morning Report, 6:14 am on 8 April 2021

A new team of experts has been set up to advise the government on critical Covid-19 decisions as the country moves into the next phase of the pandemic response.

These include how many people should be vaccinated before border controls can be relaxed, and how to respond to any new variants that are not covered by the current vaccines.

The group is headed by epidemiologist Professor Sir David Skegg.

The Associate Health Minister Ayesha Verrall told RNZ political editor Jane Patterson one of the group's first priorities will be work on a vaccination target.
