Retail New Zealand says it's "archaic" for councils in our major cities to block Easter Sunday shopping.
The retail advocate group says more than two-thirds of councils around the country allowed trade to take place on Sunday over the long weekend and wants our biggest centres to do the same.
Chief executive Greg Harford said retailers in Auckland have suffered heavily over the past 12 months because of multiple lockdowns and should have been allowed to operate.
