A sudden glut of spaces in MIQ facilities have opened this month - and New Zealanders overseas are being advised to snap them up if they want to come home.
Central Otago Mayor Tim Cadogan says some of those spaces should go to foreign workers.
He says bringing in foreigners under the seasonal employment scheme would bring huge relief to his area's horticulture industry which is suffering from labour shortages.
