Counties Manukau DHB funding free GP visits to ease pressure on emergency department

From Morning Report, 7:15 am on 31 March 2021

Counties Manukau DHB is funding free GP visits across 16 clinics to ease intense pressure on Middlemore Hospital.

On Monday night the hospital's emergency department was swamped, seeing 187 patients compared with its usual maximum of about 120.

That same night the DHB asked clinics under the Local Doctors' umbrella to offer free consultations from first thing Tuesday morning.

The chief executive of Tamaki Health, which runs the clinics, is Steffan Crausaz.
