NZ should plant exotics to fight climate change - forest owners

From Morning Report, 6:14 am on 30 March 2021

The New Zealand Forest Owners Association believes planting long lived non-natives trees may be a better solution to tackling climate change than focusing on native forest regeneration.

Their suggestion is one of more than 10,000 submissions to the Climate Change Commission's draft advice on climate policy.

The Commission recommended a focus on re-planting native trees instead of exotic species from overseas. Forest Owners Association president Phil Taylor has another solution.
