End of Life Choice Society confident training for doctors will be enough

From Morning Report, 8:22 am on 29 March 2021

The President of the End of Life Choice Society is unruffled by a Ministry of Health survey which found that less than a third of health practitioners are prepared to take part in assisted dying.

Palliative care specialists are also concerned that doctors will be offered minimal training in euthanasia.

However, Dr Mary Panko is confident training will reach a sufficient standard and she is encouraged by figures that show the number of doctors who have agreed to take part has grown since last year.

Dr Panko spoke to Susie Ferguson.
