Twelve countries - including New Zealand - have joined together to urge the Myanmar military to end the use of lethal force against unarmed civilians.

On Saturday armed forces killed 114 people in the deadliest day since the coup began on the 1st February.

The killings took place while the country celebrated Armed Forces Day, an annual military demonstration.

Producer Lily della Porta spoke to correspondent Aye Min That, who is in Bangkok after they were forced to flee Myanmar.

They said it's possible that rising violence could lead to a civil war.
