Māori health authority would need $5b budget - expert

A health advisor says an independent Māori health authority will need a budget of about $5 billion a year. 

Associate Health Minister Peeni Henare says a draft plan for an agency tasked with ending years of health inequity is going to Cabinet in the coming weeks. 

A Māori advisor on primary health, Lance Norman, told political reporter Meriana Johnsen that a separate health authority enjoys broad support.
