National is calling on the government to set a target of vaccinating at least 70 percent of adults against Covid-19.
Ministry of Health officials have previously said that a target could be an unhelpful distraction, and the focus needs to be on vaccinating as many people as possible.
But the National Party's Covid-19 Response spokesperson Chris Bishop says that is not good enough.
He told political reporter Yvette McCullough that an ambitious target is needed so that the system stays focused, and progress can be meaningfully tracked.
