Red Fox tavern trial: Lawyers sum up cases

From Morning Report, 8:37 am on 25 March 2021

The judge in the trial of the two men charged over the Red Fox Tavern shooting and robbery more than 30 years ago will sum the case up to the jury this morning - before they retire to consider their verdicts.

Publican Chris Bush was gunned down at the pub in Maramarua in October 1987 and the offenders fled with tens of thousands of dollars in cash, coins and cheques.

Mark Hoggart and another man who can't be named have been on trial in the High Court at Auckland, charged with murder and aggravated robbery - and yesterday their lawyers made their closing addresses to the jury.

Reporter Sarah Robson has been covering the case.
