The German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, has asked the German people to forgive her, after suddenly changing her mind about a new Covid-19 lockdown.
The country had been preparing for a strict lockdown over the Easter break, but today Merkel acknowledged criticism that there was widespread confusion about what the rules were.
She said it was a mistake and at the end of the day she carries the final responsibility.
