Police due diligence on drones 'back to front' - National

From Morning Report, 6:12 am on 24 March 2021

Police didn't identify potential security issues with drones it was trialling until a month into the trial when they found out the drones they were using had been banned in the US years before.

A six-month trial of DJI drones began in June 2019, and the Police Minister, Poto Williams, told Parliament potential problems were identified in July.

The DJI drones have been banned by federal agencies since 2017.

The National Party's police spokesperson Simeon Brown, who raised the parliamentary questions with Williams, says their due diligence was back to front.
