Expert on New Zealand's terror list

From Morning Report, 6:37 am on 22 March 2021

Only one white supremacist has been designated as a terrorist entity in New Zealand, two years on from the Christchurch mosque attacks.

The terrorist responsible for the mass shooting was added to the list by the Prime Minister last year. It's up to the Prime Minister to decide what individuals or groups should be classified as a terror entity.

Anyone listed has their assets frozen and it becomes a criminal offence to participate in or support their activities.

The 19 other terror entities are groups that are based largely overseas including the Shining Path, Islamic Resistance and Al-Shabaab.

Political reporter Katie Scotcher asked Paul Spoonley - an expert on the far-right - what he thought of New Zealand's terror list.
