Several changes to MIQ booking since it opened - MBIE

From Morning Report, 6:09 am on 22 March 2021

The managed isolation booking system is getting about 100 formal complaints each week, five months since it became mandatory to reserve a space in the border hotels.

People still need to book about four months in advance, or sift through the site for any cancellations if they want to arrive sooner.

An immigration lawyer says that's unfair because many people either don't have time to monitor the website or money to pay someone else to.

The deputy chief executive of MIQ, Megan Main, told RNZ reporter Katie Todd there have been several changes to the online booking system because of feedback - like a limit on the number of vouchers people can hold, and different release times to suit different time zones.
