Tourist towns welcome trans-Tasman bubble news

From Morning Report, 6:08 am on 19 March 2021

Tourist towns are welcoming the positive noises coming out of the Beehive about a trans-Tasman bubble being on the way.

The Te Anau community says it's been struggling for 14 months, and any longer without tourists will be the end for businesses.

RNZ understands Government ministers are actively working on having a trans-Tasman bubble by the end of April.

Last night Te Anau businesses met with Tourism Minister Stuart Nash to warn him of their fate without a green travel zone.

The Southland deputy mayor Abel Kremer was there and told reporter Charlotte Cook, the minister listened but gave no promises.
