Union delegate doubts Whakatāne mill workers will get new jobs

A First Union delegate at the Whakatāne mill estimates over half the staff will struggle to find new jobs. 

Despite talks and interventions from government ministers over past weeks, the closure of the mill was announced yesterday withmore than 200 people losing their jobs. 

First Union delegate and employee at the Mill for over 40 years, Rua Williams, told reporter Meriana Johnsen people are frantically trying to find more work.
