Survivors of abuse to follow church response closely

From Morning Report, 6:08 am on 15 March 2021

Survivors of abuse in care will be closely watching over the next two weeks as church leaders front at the Abuse in Care inquiry.

The Royal Commission resumes public hearings today, this time giving churches the chance to respond.

Liz Tonks from the Network of Survivors of Abuse in Faith-based Institutions hopes as the result of the hearings, the Commission can confirm what survivors have been telling them.

She told RNZ's Andrew McRae churches have failed and are unable to fix the problem.
