Australian attorney general Christian Porter has identified himself as the prominent politician against whom a historical rape allegation was made.
Porter fronted the media in Perth yesterday to strenuously deny that he raped a teenager in 1988, long before he entered politics.
He confirmed he knew the woman briefly and he says the allegations that have been levelled against him "simply did not happen".
The woman who accused him died by suicide last year.
Canberra correspondent Kerry-Anne Walsh spoke to Corin Dann.
