Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya on leading an uprising in Belarus

From Morning Report, 8:24 am on 26 February 2021

Within months, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya had gone from a former school teacher and stay-at-home mother to the symbol of a mass uprising.

She ran against the authoritarian incumbent Alexander Lukashenko in Belarus' 2020 presidential election.

Despite attracting huge support, election night results claimed she lost heavily - sparking global accusations of electoral fraud.

Facing arrest, she fled to neighbouring Lithuania, where she continues to push for democracy.

She spoke to Worldwatch's Max Towle.
