Police shot and critically injured a man in the Auckland suburb of Papatoetoe last night.
Officers were called to a house in Avis Avenue before six o'clock after a shot was fired through the window of a neighbouring home.
Armed police and the Eagle helicopter went to the scene and cordons were put in place. Just before 8:30, a man came out of the first house with a firearm and was shot by police.
