Auckland is now at Alert Level 3 after the discovery of three new community cases in the city.
The rest of the country moved to Alert Level 2. The restrictions are in place for 72 hours.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says the alert change comes out of an abundance of caution and will be reviewed every 24 hours.
