Finance Minister Grant Robertson is promising "bold action" to boost housing supply and reduce demand. He says proposals are going to Cabinet "very soon".
In Tauranga, rental agents are seeing people in tears searching for a home, while a property developer says the area will run out of land to build houses on in the next two years.
This comes as property prices and rent continue to skyrocket in the fast growing city.
