Warnings for hazardous tsunami waves in the pacific

From Morning Report, 6:10 am on 11 February 2021

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre has issued warnings for hazardous tsunami waves within 1000 kilometres of the epicentre of a 7.7 quake near New Caledonia affecting the coasts of Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Fiji.

A wave observation gauge near Vanuatu's Tanna Island measured the maximum tsunami height at 0.78 metres.

The Warning Centre says there might be minor sea level fluctuations around American Samoa but there is no tsunami danger for Hawaii, the U.S. West Coast, British Columbia, or Alaska.
