Covid-19: MIQ allocation team doing well after rough start - MBIE

From Morning Report, 8:22 am on 10 February 2021

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment is downplaying claims from a former employee that processing of emergency applications for entry into MIQ facilities was shambolic and ineffective.

The woman was one of eleven temporary staff brought on to help bring the allocation system online, and she told RNZ the group received little training or support and that one group of applications was left unread for a month.

Corin Dann spoke to Megan Main, MBIE's Deputy Chief Executive for Managed Isolation and Quarantine.

She conceded that initially the system did experience delays - but argues that the kinks have now been smoothed out.
