Blood testing coming to Otago coastal towns affected by lead in water

Residents of two coastal towns will be offered blood tests next week after unacceptable levels of lead was found in the water. 

Waikouaiti and Karitane residents were told to stop drinking tap water earlier this week due to lead found to be more than four times the acceptable level.

Dunedin City Council revealed yesterday the lead was actually 40 times the acceptable level.
