Investment giant bidding for slice of NZ Rugby commercial rights - report

From Morning Report, 7:29 am on 4 February 2021

New Zealand Rugby has reportedly been offered nearly $500,000 by a US investment company for a stake in its commercial rights.

Speculation is mounting private equity firm Silver Lake wants up to 15 percent of those rights, which would give them a slice of the broadcasting and streaming pie, along with sponsorship and merchandising profits.

The New Zealand Herald reported rugby bosses are now consulting provincial unions before making a decision within the next two months.
