Covid-19: Lines growing at Auckland testing centre

From Morning Report, 8:11 am on 28 January 2021

Two new community cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Auckland - and this morning tests results released show they are both genomically linked to the Northland case.

The two people who have tested positive for Covid-19 had been in managed isolation at the Pullman Hotel.

Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins says they are not admitting any new guests to the hotel while they try to establish what has happened.

After leaving the hotel the pair who are both from the same family have been in North Auckland - including Albany, Orewa, Silverdale and Northcote.

Aucklanders are now being encouraged to get tested if they have symptoms or have visited locations of interest.

RNZ's health correspondent Rowan Quinn is at a testing centre at North Harbour stadium in Albany.
