Several fires in Canterbury on Tuesday have left the region on high alert.
Strong winds up to 130 kilometres per hour fanned the flames near Cass Bay and the Port Hills, where firefighters have already fought several large fires this summer.
Mani Dunlop spoke to Principal Rural fire officer for North Canterbury Bruce Janes, who said he will be keeping a close eye on the conditions today.
