A fire at a scrap metal yard in Papakura has been put out overnight.
The last fire truck left the site at 4:30am, after battling the blaze since eight o'clock yesterday morning.
At one stage, the fire measured fifty by fifty metres large, made up of rubbish and steel, and locals were warned to stay indoors to avoid acrid smoke.
