Yesterday, the UK recorded its highest number of coronavirus-related deaths since last April, and the highest daily increase in cases.
1041 deaths were reported, along with another 62,000 new infections within the 24-hour period.
New statistics also show that at the start of this week, the number of Covid patients in UK hospitals passed 30,000 for the first time.
