Ahipara homes evacuated as fire spreads

A massive scrub fire near Ahipara in the Far North is under control this morning. Residents of more than 100 homes were given 10 minutes to evacuate yesterday evening, as the blaze grew. Multiple helicopters were brought in to tackle the fire, and they've resumed operations this morning. John Carter is the Far North district mayor and speaks to Perlina Lau.
