Air NZ to rehire furloughed crew for trans-Tasman bubble

From Morning Report, 7:46 am on 18 December 2020

Air New Zealand will rehire some of the cabin crew it furloughed at the beginning of the pandemic, as the planned Trans Tasman Travel Bubble raises the prospect of increased international air travel.

More than 170 crew of the airline's A320 fleet will get their jobs back, as well as some crew who worked on its regional routes on smaller planes.

The country's largest aviation union commended the company for it's decision - but says that the anguish and stress experienced by some crew earlier this year makes the situation a sensitive one.
