The National Party plans to pile more pressure on Parliament's Speaker, indicating it will declare a vote of no confidence when MPs return to the Capital in the new year.
Trevor Mallard has been under fire after he wrongly claimed that an accused rapist was working at Parliament - his erroneous claim has left taxpayers with a legal bill worth more than $300,000.
The amount is likely to grow, following revelations further legal action is being taken.
