Free public transport for Aucklanders this Friday and Saturday

From Morning Report, 8:57 am on 16 December 2020

Twas a week before Christmas, and all through the city not a passenger was paying for their bus or their train out of their kitty.

In Auckland, on Friday, from 4pm, and all day Saturday, travel on buses, trains and most ferries will be free.

It means people can get home safe after a few Christmas drinks, and get out for Christmas shopping.

The city's mayor Phil Goff is encouraging Aucklanders to use the free public transport instead of driving.
