New Zealand's 13-year-olds have recorded their worst-ever results in a major international maths and science test.
Their scores in the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study or TIMSS tumbled by the biggest margin since the study began in 1994.
Scores for nine-year-olds also fell in both subjects, leaving New Zealand well behind leading performers like Singapore, Taiwan and Korea.
