Simple ways to make a difference on sport homophobia - expert

A lead researcher into homophobic behaviour in sport says there are simple ways to make a big difference.

Research by Melbourne's Monash University has found nearly half of New Zealand's young male sportsmen who identify as gay or bisexual have been the target of homophobic bullying, including assaults.

The study's lead author Erik Denison says tackling the problem is long overdue and training captains of teams is the first place to start.
