From Morning Report, 7:55 am on 4 December 2020

Led by captain Kane Williamson, New Zealand cemented a solid foundation on day one of the first cricket test against the West Indies in Hamilton.

Williamson was unbeaten on 97 as the Black Caps reached 243 for two by stumps at Seddon Park.

With veteran Ross Taylor also at the crease, they're in position to take control on the second day of the first test of the summer.

Bryan Waddle is a veteran sports broadcaster and is often called the "voice of New Zealand cricket".
