Government is backing up climate emergency declaration with action - James Shaw

Parliament has declared a climate emergency noting the "devastating impact" volatile weather will have on New Zealand.

Labour, the Greens and te Pāti Māori all voted in support, but National and ACT opposed.

National's climate change spokesperson Stuart Smith was dismissive during yesterday's debate.
