A crash in Central Hawke's Bay yesterday which killed three people has been called absolutely devastating by the region's mayor.
The car carrying the three people collided with a truck collided on State Highway 2, near Takapau, yesterday afternoon.
The truck driver was airlifted to Hawke's Bay Hospital.
Central Hawke's Bay mayor Alex Walker says the crash is a timely reminder of how dangerous New Zealand's roads are.
