Police Association wants government to hurry up with gun register

From Morning Report, 7:09 am on 18 November 2020

The Police Association is calling on the government to hurry up its introduction of firearms register.

It comes after a man was arrested on Tuesday night in relation to a firearms incident in Whangarei when shots were fired at a police officer in the early hours of the morning.

It's the second time police have been shot in Northland in a month, and less than six months after Constable Matthew Hunt was shot and killed in west Auckland.

The Association says its important the flow of guns to criminal groups is stopped.
