Business as usual for medicinal cannabis company after vote

From Morning Report, 6:19 am on 11 November 2020

A medicinal cannabis company says the results of the recent cannabis referendum won't pull the rug out from under its business.

The cannabis referendum recently failed by a slim margin. A little over 50 percent of New Zealanders said no to legalisation, but 48 percent said yes.

Doctors can already prescribe medicinal cannabis, but New Zealand companies are still developing their products for use.

Mark Lucas, chief executive of medicinal cannabis company Cannasouth, is disappointed by the result.

He told RNZ reporter Jean Bell it's business as usual.
