Two New Zealanders will have leading roles in an Australian rendition of the musical Hamilton.

Before the coronavirus pandemic shuttered Broadway, the blockbuster musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda was famous for being sold out more than a year in advance.

The musical which tells the story of American Founding Father, Alexander Hamilton, is due to open in March next year, at the Sydney Lyric Theatre.

Actor and singer Matu Ngaropo will play George Washington and Akina Edmonds will take to the stage in the role of Angelica.

Ngaropo speaks to Susie Ferguson.
