Tougher rules coming for early childhood education centres

From Morning Report, 6:16 am on 10 November 2020

The Education Ministry is preparing to take a tougher line on early childhood centres that repeatedly breach minimum standards.

It is planning rule changes that will make it easier to direct early learning services to improve.

It also wants to be able to cancel the licences of centres that repeatedly have provisional licences due to infractions.

Sarah Alexander from the organisation Child Forum told RNZ education correspondent, John Gerritsen, the changes are a good idea.
