Election 2020: Waititi says Maori Party revitalised despite chance specials could flip seat

From Morning Report, 6:45 am on 6 November 2020

The final make up of the 53rd Parliament will be revealed this afternoon, when the results of the special votes are announced at 2pm.

It will be a nervous wait for some, including Māori Party MP Rawiri Waititi, who finished election night 400 votes ahead of Labour's Tāmati Coffey in Waiariki.

Friday's result will confirm or overturn the Māori Party's return to Parliament.

Waititi told political reporter Katie Scotcher that regardless of whether the specials stay his way the Māori Party has been revitalised.
