The father of an 11-year-old girl who died in a bus crash on Mount Ruapehu has described the terror of realising the brakes had failed on its descent down the mountain.
The inquest into the death of Hannah Francis in July 2018 started on Tuesday in Auckland.
Hannah died on the way to hospital after suffering critical injuries in the crash.
Eighteen others were hurt.
Hannah's father, Matt Francis was on the bus too.
He's an engineer and told the inquest he noticed the driver was having trouble braking.
