Senior doctors union pleased to see Covid-19 split from health

From Morning Report, 6:42 am on 3 November 2020

The senior doctors union is pleased it's no longer the job of the Health Minister to oversee the Covid-19 response.

As part of a major ministerial shake up, the Prime Minister has put Chris Hipkins in charge of leading all aspects of the pandemic response - including managed isolation, border defences, testing and contract tracing.

He will also remain as the Minister of Education, while Andrew Little will pick up the health portfolio.

Political reporter Katie Scotcher spoke to Sarah Dalton from the Association of Salaried Medical Specialists and asked if the Covid-19 response and Education portfolios are too much for Hipkins to juggle.
