Covid-19: Victoria could have achieved first zero day

From Morning Report, 8:41 am on 21 October 2020

Victoria may have finally achieved its first day of NO new cases of coronavirus.

A single case recorded in Melbourne on Tuesday is still being investigated but it could turn out to be an old infection.

But the question of how the city should exit its lockdown is becoming increasingly vexed.

There was a large public outcry yesterday after the government announced that crowds of over one thousand people would gather this weekend, when it gave the Cox Plate horse racing event a green light with staggered arrivals and temperature checks set up to keep punters safe.

Late last night that decision was reversed - but it's clear that there are different opinions about what should happen now.
